Auto-Triggered Surveys
This type of survey appears automatically at a selected moment during the user’s visit—without requiring any action from them. Triggers can include time spent on the page, number of page views, scroll depth, a click on a specific element, or the completion of a form.
When to Use:
When you want to collect feedback at a specific point in the user journey—for example, after viewing an offer, before exiting the site, or after performing a key action.
To evaluate a specific stage of the visit or a particular page (e.g., product detail, article, or search results).
Benefits:
Precisely timed survey display
Higher chance of receiving context-relevant feedback
Flexible configuration of triggering conditions
Tips:
Avoid displaying surveys too early—give users time to engage with the content
Don’t show more than one auto-triggered survey per session to prevent user fatigue
Match the survey content to the context—ask about what the user has just seen or done
Configuring Auto-Triggered Surveys in YourCX
YourCX allows you to define precise rules that must be met before a survey is shown. This ensures the display aligns with the user journey and avoids unnecessary disruption.
1. Survey Display Method
Overlay on the Page
The survey appears as a layer over the website. It’s highly visible but doesn’t block access to the content. This is the most commonly used and recommended option.
Slide-Up from Bottom Corner
A subtle display method where the survey slides up from the bottom of the screen. Users can continue browsing, which encourages responses without breaking their flow.
Slide-In from Side
Similar to the bottom option but slides in from the side. More noticeable on wider screens or when the bottom area contains other UI elements (e.g., live chat).
Pop-Up Window
The survey opens in a separate, smaller browser window. Useful if you want the user to return to the survey later.
2. Display Probability
Set a value between 0 and 1 that defines the chance of the survey appearing (e.g., 0.3 = 30% of users who meet the conditions will see it). Helps control frequency and avoid survey fatigue.
3. Pre-Trigger Conditions
Define additional rules to delay or control the moment the survey appears:
Minimum Time on Page – Number of seconds the user must stay before the survey can appear
Minimum Page Views – Number of pages the user must visit during the session
Delay After Condition Met – Extra time (in seconds) between meeting the conditions and showing the survey
Probability (for Page Views) – Defines randomness for showing the survey once minimum page views are reached (e.g., 1 = always, 0.5 = 50% of the time)
4. Additional Options
Page Count Requirement – Optionally require users to visit a specific number of unique pages before the survey can be shown
Invitation Prompt – Display an invitation to participate in the survey instead of launching the survey immediately
5. Frequency Controls (Blocks)
YourCX includes built-in frequency controls to limit how often surveys are shown to the same user. These blocks help avoid overwhelming visitors and ensure a positive user experience.
These are the most commonly used options—but every element is fully configurable. The platform offers many additional features, so we encourage you to explore all available settings for maximum flexibility.
